Are you a process-driven Controller ready for your next high-impact role?

Our client is a national leader in mission-driven staffing, known for advancing workforce equity and transforming careers. As we accelerate our growth, we’re hiring a hands-on Controller to lead our accounting function, drive operational excellence, and bring discipline to our high-performing remote team.

What You Will Do

  • Own day-to-day accounting operations (AP, AR, invoicing, financial reporting, audit).

  • Build and enforce process cadence for a fully remote accounting team (on camera 80%+).

  • Maintain the integrity of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and staffing industry best practices.

  • Manage deferred revenue schedules, cash flow, and oversee monthly/quarterly/year-end closes.

  • Integrate new acquisitions and support the launch of new business lines (e.g., property management division).

  • Partner with compliance, sales, and operations teams on customer set-up, invoicing, and regulatory matters.

  • Mentor, manage, and develop a Senior Accountant direct report.

  • Drive dashboard/reporting improvements; leverage technology and AI tools where possible.

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years’ experience in a financial leadership role in staffing or adjacent services sector (required).

  • Demonstrated success leading accounting teams in a remote, deadline-driven environment.

  • Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online, bill.com (AP), and Paycor (payroll).

  • Highly process-oriented with a passion for operational discipline and continuous improvement.

  • Hands-on, “working Controller” mentality—comfortable rolling up sleeves.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills; professional remote “presence.”

  • Experience with M&A integration and/or supporting new business lines a plus.

  • Not a fit for those seeking work-from-home flexibility for childcare/personal distractions.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting (CPA preferred).

  • Extensive QuickBooks Online and Excel experience (pivot tables, modeling).

  • Proven ability to manage and mentor staff in a high-volume, high-accountability environment.

  • Experience in multi-entity and multi-state operations is a plus.

What You Get

  • $130K–$150K base salary (firm cap, targeting candidates comfortable in range for two years).

  • Annual bonus (up to $12K, based on gross profit performance, paid as a year-end true-up).

  • Comprehensive medical (details provided during process), STD, and other benefits.

  • ~6 weeks PTO (200 hours vacation + 40 hours sick time per year, policy updating).

  • 100% remote role with occasional travel for leadership meetings/events.

  • The chance to shape the financial future of a growing, values-driven company.

This is your opportunity to join a thriving, nationally recognized staffing firm where your process orientation and leadership will drive real impact on the business and the lives of traditionally overlooked talent.
