ASSOCIATE GENERAL COUNSEL - STAFFING INDUSTRY - MIDWEST 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Compensation: $140k + Eligibility to 20% Variable Compensation

How You’ll Do It  
The Associate General Counsel will play a critical role in safeguarding  legal interests and ensuring that operations remain compliant with all applicable laws and regulations. Reporting to the CFO, this role involves providing strategic legal advice, managing corporate legal matters, and proactively addressing risks to support business growth. The ideal candidate is a collaborative, business-minded attorney who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Protects legal interest and maintaining its operations within the scope established by law.
  • Provides hands-on counsel to all levels of executive staff and manages the operations of legal department.
  • Oversees the preparation, examining, analyzing, negotiating, and revising contracts that involve the purchase or sale of goods or services such as equipment, materials, supplies, or products.
  • Identifies and analyzes legal issues, drafts key documents, presents clear recommendations to top management, and assures legal compliance.
  • Approves policies developed within various sub-functions and departments
  • Oversee the preparation and revision of contracts that involve the purchase of sale of goods and services, including leases and customer contracts.
  • Oversee proposal planning and administration of contracts.
  • Manages the employees within the Contract Administrator role.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions.
  • Prepare contract briefs and revisions summarizing contractual requirements and budgets.
  • Track authorizations and correspondence.
  • Prepare contract change notices, monitor contractor performance, including the reporting and status of contractor and owner deliverables.
  • Maintain an audit file for each contract which will include original contract, all correspondence, changes/deviations, amendments, clarifications, payment schedules.
  • Prepare and disseminate information to appropriate employees regarding contract status, facilitate contractor meetings.
  • Ensure that contractor is in compliance with legal requirements, owner specifications and government regulations. 
  • Track payments and deadlines while analyzing and mitigating risk.
  • Provide contract summaries and ensure contract execution in accordance with company policy.
What You’ll Bring 
This is an experienced hire role, and you’ll need to bring 4-6 years of legal experience. Here’s what else we’re looking for: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, mathematics, accounting or economics
  • Knowledge of employment law, labor regulations, and contract negotiation.
  • Active license to practice law and good standing with the relevant state bar.
  • Experience in a corporate legal department or a law firm with a focus on employment law, staffing, or general corporate practice.
  • Experience within the staffing or workforce solutions industry is highly preferred.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and drafting skills.
  • Ability to balance legal risk with business goals and act as a strategic advisor.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with sound judgment and a pragmatic approach.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
